Training for NAVHDA Tests
Rock Tavern field trials are a clinic-like setting for all members to train and learn from each other. Your pup will be exposed to various NAVHDA elements of testing, including tracking, pointing, steady to wing/shot, duck searches, game retrieves and overall obedience.
Field trial clinics are held on weekends. Propagated game will be available for purchase and live ammo will be used.
All registration/bird order must be completed the Tuesday before a field trial.
Focusing on fundamentals is the key to a Prize I result! Sharpen you and your pup's skills by working through various elements of NAVHDA testing on land and water with fellow chapter members.
No live ammo will be used and there will not be any propagated game available for purchase. Members are allowed to bring their own ducks for searches.
Testing your dog in NAVHDA
In 1969, NAVHDA established a system of comprehensive tests that truly measure all aspects of work for the versatile hunting dog breeds. The trialing systems in use in North America before this time were established for specialists. The NAVHDA system provides for testing at various stages of maturity.
